About Cast
Formed in Liverpool in 1992, Cast quickly rose to prominence as one of the most exciting bands of the burgeoning Britpop era. Fronted by John Power, formerly of The La’s, the band’s sound is characterised by Power’s distinctive vocals, soaring melodies, and a powerful, guitar-driven rock and pop sensibility that earned them the moniker “the band that built its own bridge.” Their debut album, “All Change” (1995), became the fastest-selling debut for Polydor Records at the time, going platinum and spawning hits like “Finetime,” “Walkaway,” and “Sandstorm,” which remain staples of their live shows.
Following up on their initial success, their second album, “Mother Nature’s Son” (1997), continued their winning streak with tracks such as “Free Me.” Cast’s music is often described as uplifting and anthemic, blending catchy hooks with thoughtful lyrics. After a hiatus in the early 2000s, the band reformed in 2010 with their classic lineup, much to the delight of their devoted fanbase. Today, Cast comprises John Power (vocals, guitar), Liam Tyson (guitar), Mark Birchall (bass), and Kev White (drums). They continue to tour extensively, releasing new material that showcases their enduring creative energy while retaining the signature sound that made them Britpop icons. Their live performances are renowned for their raw energy and the palpable connection they forge with the audience, making every show a truly communal experience.
