For live music and other staged events, a temporary stage is erected within the arena, allowing for standing room on the floor and utilising the existing elevated seating tiers for audience members.
The seating arrangement provides generally clear sightlines from the higher sections, offering an overview of the entire space, though distance to a stage positioned centrally can be considerable. Due to its open-air design and hard structural surfaces of brick and concrete, the natural acoustics of the space are challenging. Sound requires substantial and carefully deployed PA system reinforcement to project evenly across the large, unroofed area and mitigate significant echo, as the venue was not originally conceived for musical performance.
