Constructed between 1900 and 1911 for the Liverpool Warehousing Company, Victoria Warehouse originally served as a vast storage facility for cotton and other goods imported via the Manchester Ship Canal. This early 20th-century industrial architecture features robust red brickwork, imposing multi-storey facades, and a cavernous internal structure supported by large concrete and steel columns. The building's utilitarian design prioritises function over embellishment, characteristic of the era's industrial might.

The venue's capacity is flexible, adapting to various event scales. The primary space, known as The Cotton Sheds, can accommodate up to 5,000 standing attendees. Other configurations, including The Bays, The Cellar, and The Loft, offer smaller capacities ranging from several hundred to over a thousand. Layouts are predominantly flat standing floors across multiple levels, with no fixed tiered seating or balconies. Sightlines in the main halls are generally unobstructed due to the open-plan design, though the structural pillars inherent to the building's industrial heritage can occasionally create partial views depending on the stage setup and crowd density. Acoustically, the high ceilings and hard surfaces of the brick and concrete environment present a naturally reverberant soundscape. Consequently, sound reproduction relies heavily on meticulously calibrated professional PA systems, which are essential for mitigating the inherent acoustic challenges of this expansive industrial space.

Ingress to the venue is typically managed through dedicated entry points located along Wharfside Way, with queue lines forming outside the building's robust facade. Once inside, attendees find multiple bar areas distributed across the ground floor and mezzanine levels, offering a range of refreshments. The vast, open-plan nature of the main performance spaces allows for significant crowd flow and creates a dynamic, high-energy atmosphere, especially within the dense standing areas directly in front of the stage. Given the flat floor configuration, views towards the stage can become restricted further back in a capacity crowd, often prompting attendees to strategically position themselves for optimal sightlines.
