Constructed in 1888, the Plaza de Toros de Almeria represents a classic example of Neo-Mudéjar architecture, distinguished by its red brick facade and recurring horseshoe arch motifs. The venue is designed in a traditional bullring configuration, featuring a large central arena encircled by tiered seating. Its substantial capacity, typically accommodating around 9,000 spectators for its original purpose, means a considerable footprint. For live music and other staged events, a temporary stage is erected within the arena, allowing for standing room on the floor and utilising the existing elevated seating tiers for audience members.
The seating arrangement provides generally clear sightlines from the higher sections, offering an overview of the entire space, though distance to a stage positioned centrally can be considerable. Due to its open-air design and hard structural surfaces of brick and concrete, the natural acoustics of the space are challenging.
