How we make money

NeedATicket.co.uk is free to use and we don't sell tickets ourselves. This page explains, in plain English, where our income comes from and what that does and doesn't change about what you see.

The short version

  • We earn a commission from StubHub International when you buy tickets after clicking through from our site. The commission is paid by StubHub, not by you.
  • The price you pay is the marketplace price. We add nothing to it, and you'd pay the same going to StubHub directly.
  • We may also earn a small commission if you book a hotel through the Stay22 map on some event pages.
  • Nobody pays to be listed, ranked higher, or described more favourably. Price alerts and the newsletter are free and we never sell your email address.

Affiliate commission from StubHub International

We are a publisher in the Impact affiliate network, where StubHub International runs its partner programme. When you click a "Check availability" or "Find tickets" button on NeedATicket.co.uk, you are sent to the StubHub International marketplace. If you then buy tickets, StubHub pays us a percentage of the order value. If you don't buy, or your order is cancelled or refunded, we earn nothing.

This is the only way ticket listings earn us money. We don't hold inventory, we don't set prices and we don't take payment. Every ticket link on the site is marked with rel="sponsored" so search engines can see it is a commercial relationship too.

What the /go/ links do

Ticket buttons point at an address on our own site that looks like needaticket.co.uk/go/<event>. That page does three things in a fraction of a second:

  1. records that a click happened (which event, which button, the time, and a random click ID — not your name or email);
  2. adds that click ID to the StubHub link so Impact can tell us later whether the click led to a sale;
  3. redirects you to the event's listing page on StubHub International.

The click ID lets us know which events and pages actually help people find tickets. It is not tied to your identity, and we don't buy or sell click data. Links in price-alert emails carry src=alert so we can see whether alerts are useful, nothing more.

Where prices come from

Every price on the site is the cheapest listing on the StubHub International marketplace for that event at the moment we last checked. We refresh the whole catalogue every day, and each event page shows the "checked" time and, where we have enough history, how the cheapest price has moved.

Because StubHub is a resale marketplace, listings and prices change constantly. A price can be different by the time you arrive, and the final total on StubHub will include their fees and delivery, which we can't see in advance. We never inflate a price to make a deal look better, and we never show a lower price than the marketplace reported to us.

What money does not change

  • Which events we list. Every event in the StubHub International catalogue that we can match to an artist and venue is listed; withdrawn events are removed. There is no pay-for-inclusion.
  • Ordering. Listings are ordered by date, price or relevance to what you searched — never by how much commission an event would earn.
  • Our guides. Artist and venue guides describe what the data says. See our editorial policy.

Hotels via Stay22

Some event pages show a map of nearby accommodation from Stay22. If you book through it, Stay22 may pay us a small commission. Prices are set by the hotel platforms, not by us.
