About Eventim Apollo: Layout, History & Architecture
The Eventim Apollo, originally opened as the Gaumont Palace in 1932, is a distinguished example of Art Deco architecture located in West London. Designed by Robert Cromie, its symmetrical façade and lavish interior details, including intricate plasterwork, gilded finishes, and ornate lighting, secured its Grade II* listed status. The auditorium accommodates audiences of approximately 3,341 in a fully seated configuration, or expands to 5,039 patrons when the stalls area is converted to a standing pit for contemporary music events, complemented by a fixed, tiered circle and an upper circle.
The main space features a raked stalls floor, ensuring generally strong sightlines towards the stage, even from the rear of the hall. The fixed seating in the circle also offers elevated and largely unobstructed views, though minimal pillar intrusion may occur at the extreme side edges of the stalls depending on the seating arrangement. Acoustically, the auditorium was primarily designed for amplified performances and cinema screenings. While not a natural acoustic marvel, its internal shape and surfaces effectively support robust sound reinforcement, providing a clear and impactful audio experience for various genres through modern public address systems.
The Live Experience & Current Schedule
Entry to the Eventim Apollo is managed via multiple doors on Queen Caroline Street, leading into a spacious foyer. Patrons can find several bars distributed across different levels, serving refreshments before and during performances. For standing events, the pit can become quite dense close to the stage, offering an immersive, high-energy experience. Those preferring a less crowded view can opt for the tiered circle, which provides excellent elevated sightlines of the stage. The overall crowd atmosphere typically ranges from enthusiastically engaged for rock and pop concerts to respectfully attentive for comedy and theatrical productions.
With 54 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from £46.92. The next confirmed event on the calendar is Judas Priest on 21st September 2026.
