The Students' Union building itself underwent a significant £5 million redevelopment completed in 2017, imbuing the venue with a modern, functional architectural aesthetic that prioritises versatility for a wide array of student and public events. The hall is configured primarily as a large, open-plan standing auditorium, designed to accommodate approximately 1,700 patrons.
The layout features a single, flat standing floor leading towards an elevated stage. This setup provides good proximity to the performers for those closer to the front, but sightlines can become challenging for individuals positioned towards the rear or sides, particularly for shorter attendees, as there are no tiered sections or balconies.
