Oaxaca city does not have active passenger rail services or a metropolitan subway system. Direct rail travel to the venue is not an option.

Local urban buses provide connections to areas near the base of Cerro del Fortín. Key routes travel along Calzada Madero, Avenida Juárez, and Avenida Independencia, from which visitors can transfer to taxis or colectivos for the ascent to the auditorium. Numerous taxi stands operate throughout Oaxaca city, offering a direct route to the venue entrance.

The Auditorio Guelaguetza has on-site parking available, though it has limited capacity and fills rapidly during large-scale events. Visitors are advised to arrive well in advance or consider parking in designated commercial lots located downhill within a 10 to 15-minute walk, such as those near the Hotel Fortín Plaza. Street parking in the surrounding residential areas is generally difficult and discouraged. Fees apply for most commercial parking facilities.

The primary entrance to the auditorium is located at the summit of Cerro del Fortín, accessible via the main access road. For major events, multiple gates are typically opened to manage crowd flow. Attendees should anticipate security checks, including bag searches, upon entry. Arriving 45 to 60 minutes before the advertised start time is recommended to allow for transit, parking, and entry procedures.
