About Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion: Layout, History & Architecture
Constructed in 2003, the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion in Gilford presents as a contemporary, purpose-built outdoor amphitheatre. Its architectural style leans towards functional modernism, characterised by an exposed steel framework supporting a tensile fabric roof that shelters the stage and main seating bowl. The capacity of the auditorium is approximately 7,500, accommodating both a large flat standing area directly in front of the stage and a series of concrete tiered seats ascending towards the rear.
Sightlines are generally clear from the tiered seating, offering a broad perspective of the performance area. However, those in the lower side sections of the seating bowl may experience more oblique views. As an open-air venue, the hall's acoustic profile is almost entirely dictated by its installed line-array PA system. While this system is robustly engineered for clarity and projection in an outdoor setting, sound dispersion can be influenced by wind conditions, and a noticeable degree of reverberation off the rear structures is inherent to the space's design, particularly during less amplified musical passages.

For those preferring a clearer view and more personal space, the tiered seating offers a generally unobstructed vantage point with less physical interaction. The nearest mainline station is Gilford Waterside Station, located approximately a 15-minute walk south-east from the venue. Exit the station onto Station Approach, turn left onto Quay Street, and continue along the waterfront until reaching the Pavilion's main entrance.
Bus & Local Transit
Gilford Bus Terminal, situated a 20-minute walk inland via High Street, serves regional bus connections. Local bus routes 22 (Waterside Circular) and 47 (Estuary Express) stop directly at the 'Pavilion Gates' stop on Estuary Road, immediately to the rear of the venue.
Parking & Vehicle Access
The Waterside Multi-storey Car Park is adjacent to the venue on Estuary Road, with fees typically charged per hour or per event. Advance booking is highly recommended for evening events due to high demand and congestion. An alternative, the Gilford West Field car park, operates seasonally as a park-and-walk facility, approximately a 12-minute walk from the Pavilion entrance via Riverside Path.
Entry, Queues & Security
The main entrance for ticket holders is clearly signposted on Quay Street, facing the Gilford Estuary. Standard bag search procedures are in place. To ensure smooth entry and avoid last-minute queues, particularly for popular events, arriving 45-60 minutes before the advertised door time is advisable.
