While the stadium itself, completed in 1966, stands as a brutalist concrete monument to modernist sporting architecture, the esplanade is a large, paved, utilitarian space designed to manage significant crowd flow before and after events. It lacks permanent architectural features for performances, instead transforming into a dedicated outdoor venue through the deployment of temporary staging, sound systems, and crowd control barriers.
