About Hala Stulecia: Layout, History & Architecture
Completed in 1913, Hala Stulecia (Centennial Hall) is an architectural landmark in Wrocław, designed by Max Berg. This early modernist structure is a pioneering achievement in reinforced concrete construction, featuring a vast domed main hall that spans 67 metres. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site, the hall's design represented a radical departure from traditional building methods, embodying principles of functionalism and monumental scale. Its primary space is an immense, open-plan auditorium, capable of accommodating various configurations from sporting events to large-scale concerts.
The hall can host up to 10,000 attendees for standing events, or approximately 6,000 to 7,000 in seated arrangements, often utilising temporary tiered seating or a flat floor for standing crowds. Sightlines within the grand, circular interior are generally unobstructed due to the open design, though these can be influenced by specific stage setups and sound towers.
