About Klub Stodoła: Layout, History & Architecture
Klub Stodoła, originally a student club founded in 1956, moved to its present purpose-built location on Wawelska Street in 1971. Designed by architects Leszek Klank and Andrzej Szwanke, the building reflects a functionalist style, characterized by its substantial concrete construction typical of its era. This robust, rather unadorned aesthetic informs the interior, which primarily functions as a large, adaptable auditorium.
The main hall features a flat standing floor directly in front of a substantial stage, offering immediate proximity to performers for a capacity of approximately 1,500 to 2,000 attendees, depending on the event configuration. A balcony level wraps around portions of the upper perimeter, providing an elevated vantage point. While sightlines from the main floor can become limited amidst a dense crowd, the upper tier generally offers clearer, albeit more distant, perspectives. Given the hall's significant concrete surfaces and large volume, its inherent acoustic properties are live and reflective. The sound experience relies heavily on the quality and configuration of the installed sound reinforcement system, rather than natural acoustic diffusion or absorption.
The Live Experience & Current Schedule
Entry to the space is via the main doors on Wawelska Street, typically involving standard security checks and bag searches. Once inside, attendees find themselves in a spacious foyer leading to the main hall, where multiple bars are strategically located to manage crowd flow and service. The standing pit directly before the stage can become quite dense during popular performances, fostering an immersive, high-energy atmosphere. For those preferring a less intense experience, the balcony provides an elevated view, generally offering unobstructed sightlines, albeit with a greater remove from the immediate stage action.
With 0 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from standard pricing. The next confirmed event on the calendar is upcoming live performances on soon.
