Limelight, situated at 17 Ormeau Avenue, occupies a building that began its life as a cinema, later undergoing significant conversion to become a prominent multi-room entertainment venue. The primary performance space, Limelight 1, features a large, flat standing floor with a stage positioned at the far end, designed for maximum audience capacity and proximity to the performers. Its industrial-influenced aesthetic, with exposed elements and robust fixtures, reflects its adaptive reuse. The hall accommodates approximately 950 patrons, offering generally unobstructed views towards the stage, though dense crowds can impact sightlines in the mid-rear sections. Adjoining this is Limelight 2, a more intimate room with a standing capacity of around 400, offering a closer, more direct experience with a similarly un-tiered floorplan.

The acoustic profile across both spaces is functional and direct, prioritising powerful PA system reinforcement over natural room resonance. Given the building's original purpose and subsequent modifications, the design leans heavily on modern sound engineering to deliver impact, rather than relying on complex architectural acoustic treatments. Low ceilings in Limelight 2 contribute to an energetic, immediate sound, while the larger volume of Limelight 1 requires careful sound system calibration to manage reflections and maintain clarity. The absence of traditional tiered seating or balconies means the experience is fundamentally a standing one, fostering a visceral connection between audience and artist, though this can lead to considerable crowd heat during energetic performances.

Entry to Limelight typically involves queues along Ormeau Avenue, leading into a compact foyer where security checks and ticket scanning are conducted efficiently. Once inside, patrons can access several internal bars serving the main performance areas, with Katy's Bar often functioning as a pre-show gathering point or a third, separate entertainment space adjacent to the main halls. The atmosphere within both Limelight 1 and Limelight 2 is typically high-energy, with the flat standing floors encouraging dynamic crowd interaction. Proximity to the stage in Limelight 2 ensures an intense experience, while Limelight 1 offers a broader, more expansive environment.
