Originally opening its doors in 1884 as a skating rink, the structure at 59, rue Sainte-Catherine Est underwent significant transformation in 1894 to become the Théâtre Français. Over subsequent decades, it transitioned through roles as a cinema and a vaudeville house, before its modern rebirth as a dedicated concert hall in the 1990s. While retaining an ornate 19th-century façade, the interior has been thoroughly adapted for contemporary live music, merging historical design elements with robust industrial functionality.

The hall operates primarily with a large, flat standing area on the main floor, accommodating approximately 2,300 patrons for high-energy performances. Above this, a single tiered balcony provides seating for around 1,100, offering clear, elevated sightlines to the wide stage below. While the extensive renovations have installed modern sound reinforcement systems, the venue's large, open volume and hard surfaces inherent to its construction mean acoustics are heavily dependent on skilled sound engineering. Live sound is generally well-managed, but the space does present the typical characteristics of a large concrete and plaster auditorium, where the main floor can feel cavernous, and sound can reflect if not carefully controlled by the production.

Entering the venue, patrons are guided through a series of foyer spaces designed to handle significant crowd flow, leading to multiple bar areas before accessing the main auditorium. The standing pit, directly in front of the stage, allows for an immersive, high-density concert experience, while the tiered balcony offers a more relaxed vantage point, ensuring good visibility without the pressure of the main floor crowd.
