Open Air am Tanzbrunnen, situated on the eastern bank of the Rhine in Köln-Deutz, originated as a component of the 1957 Bundesgartenschau (Federal Garden Show). This open-air venue is characterized by its distinctive shell-shaped stage (Muschel) and a generously sloped lawn forming a natural amphitheatre. The architectural style reflects post-war modernism integrated with park design principles. The main performance area faces west, orienting acts towards the river and the cityscape beyond.
The capacity for standing-room concerts can accommodate up to 12,500 attendees, making it one of Köln's larger open-air venues.
