About Playa de las Salinas: Layout, History & Architecture
Playa de las Salinas, a purpose-built outdoor performance space, was completed in 2014, designed with a functional, robust aesthetic to complement the natural coastal environment of Roquetas de Mar. Its architecture employs a minimalist palette of reinforced concrete and marine-grade steel, forming a permanent, elevated stage structure set directly on the sandy expanse. The venue is configured primarily for standing events, accommodating up to 2,500 attendees in the immediate beach area before the stage. At the rear, a series of terraced concrete steps offers unseated, elevated vantage points for approximately 700 individuals, providing a wider perspective of the stage and the surrounding beach. Sightlines are generally unobstructed across the entire space, with the elevation of the terraced sections offering clear views over the standing crowd. As an open-air facility, the acoustic performance is wholly reliant on the installed PA system; the absence of reflective surfaces means sound projection across the wide, non-reverberant space is paramount, often contending with the dissipation effects of prevailing sea breezes on bass frequencies and the need for precisely aimed, robust directional arrays to maintain midrange clarity.

Entry to the venue is managed via designated access points from the beachfront promenade, directing patrons onto the sandy viewing area. Temporary bar kiosks are typically situated along the perimeter of the event space, offering a range of refreshments. The standing pit directly before the stage can become densely packed for popular acts, with the soft sand offering a different dynamic to conventional hard floors. Those preferring a less intense experience, or a consistently clearer sightline, will find the elevated rear terraces provide ample space and panoramic views across the crowd and towards the stage.
