About Recinto La Fontana: Layout, History & Architecture
Recinto La Fontana, completed in 2003, represents a significant modernist addition to Xàbia's coastline. Constructed primarily from pre-stressed concrete and glass, its design prioritises raw functionality and adaptable performance spaces. The main auditorium features a large, flat standing floor capable of accommodating approximately 2,500 attendees, offering unobstructed views towards the stage from most areas. Above the rear of the main floor, a cantilevered tiered balcony provides seating for an additional 500 patrons, ensuring elevated sightlines. While the expansive concrete surfaces and high ceiling volume of the hall contribute to a naturally 'live' acoustic environment, requiring sophisticated sound reinforcement for amplified performances, the design allows for robust PA systems to be fully integrated, mitigating excessive reverberation for most contemporary acts. There are no internal pillars obstructing views on the main floor.
The venue's exterior features a clean, utilitarian aesthetic, with large panels of glazing allowing natural light into the foyers. Its primary orientation is towards the sea, with the main entrance directly facing the waterfront promenade. Internally, the circulation flows are clear, designed to manage large crowds efficiently. While its primary function is as a live music and performance space, the adaptable nature of the main floor also permits configuration for trade shows and large-scale public gatherings, reflecting its initial design brief for versatility within a coastal environment.
The Live Experience & Current Schedule
Entering Recinto La Fontana directly from the seafront promenade, patrons are guided into spacious foyer areas equipped with multiple bars, designed to minimise queuing before entry to the main auditorium. The standing pit, particularly for high-demand events, can become quite dense, offering direct proximity to the stage. Those preferring a less intense experience or guaranteed sightlines will find the tiered balcony offers excellent elevated perspectives, albeit at a greater distance from the stage. The crowd atmosphere varies widely depending on the act, from energetic concert dynamics to more subdued seated appreciation. With 0 live performances scheduled, upcoming entry prices start from standard pricing. The next confirmed event on the calendar is upcoming live performances on soon. Security and accessibility provisions are standard for a venue of this capacity, with clear signage throughout.
