Originally constructed in 1988 as a light industrial warehouse, The Factory Live underwent a significant repurposing in 2017, transforming into a large-scale performance venue while retaining much of its utilitarian aesthetic. The architectural style leans into Industrial Modernism, characterised by exposed concrete surfaces, robust steel girders, and visible utilities that traverse the high ceilings. The main auditorium is a vast, open-plan space with a maximum standing capacity of 1,500 patrons. The floor is entirely flat, providing a direct, unhindered view of the stage for those close to the front. Towards the rear, a slightly elevated platform offers a modest VIP section, providing a clear sightline over the general admission area.
The hall's extensive dimensions and hard, reflective surfaces inherently present acoustic challenges typical of converted industrial spaces. Sound fidelity relies heavily on a comprehensive, precisely tuned installed PA system.
