About The Ritz Ybor City: Layout, History & Architecture
Opened in 1917 as The Rivoli Theatre, this Ybor City landmark was designed in a Spanish-Mediterranean Revival style, initially functioning as a grand movie palace. Over decades, it transitioned through various entertainment roles before undergoing significant renovations in the early 2000s to become a dedicated live music and event venue. The space retains some of its original architectural grandeur, notably the high ceilings and decorative flourishes, yet is functionally configured for contemporary performances.
The auditorium accommodates approximately 1,500 to 1,700 patrons, depending on the event setup. Its primary configuration features a large, flat standing floor directly in front of the stage, allowing for dense crowd interaction. Above this, a single, elevated balcony tier offers additional viewing.
