Constructed in 1902 as part of Amsterdam's municipal gasworks complex, the Gashouder is a striking example of early 20th-century industrial architecture. This monumental, circular brick structure, topped with a distinctive cast-iron roof, originally housed a massive gas storage tank. Following the decommissioning of the Westergasfabriek in the late 20th century, the building underwent extensive restoration, reopening as a versatile event space. Its impressive dimensions and raw, unadorned aesthetic define the experience; the hall features a vast, flat standing floor with no fixed seating or tiered balconies, accommodating capacities typically ranging from 3,000 to 4,000 attendees, depending on event configuration.

The architectural integrity of the Gashouder remains largely preserved, showcasing its robust industrial heritage.
