Mediahaven, situated prominently on Amsterdam's Moermanskkade, occupies a repurposed industrial structure within the redeveloped Houthavens district. Originally part of the city's timber port, the building was extensively renovated in the early 2010s to become a flexible event space. Its architectural profile is distinctly utilitarian and modern industrial, characterized by soaring ceiling heights, exposed structural elements, and expansive open-plan interiors. The primary performance area, known as De Grote Zaal, offers a vast, flat standing floor capable of accommodating approximately 2,500 attendees, entirely devoid of fixed seating or tiered balconies.

Sightlines across the main hall are generally unimpeded by architectural obstructions, offering clear views to the stage for a significant portion of the audience, though these can naturally diminish with crowd density at capacity events. Acoustically, the inherent nature of a large, high-ceilinged concrete and steel structure means the space is prone to significant reverberation. Consequently, the sonic experience is heavily reliant on the quality and configuration of the installed, bespoke PA systems, which must work extensively to manage the inherent echo and deliver a clear, impactful sound. The hall's volume and material composition dictate a powerful, often bass-forward sound profile, rather than an intimately resonant one.

This area often houses temporary bar facilities, mitigating congestion before entry into the main performance spaces. Once inside De Grote Zaal, the experience is defined by a large, open standing pit.
