Its current, extensive redevelopment program, nearing completion, introduces a retractable roof and a futuristic metallic facade, transforming the existing bowl into an enclosed, multi-purpose arena.

With a capacity of approximately 81,044 spectators for sporting events, the space is configured with multiple tiers of seating steeply raked to provide generally clear sightlines to the central pitch from most vantage points. However, the sheer scale means upper-tier seats offer a distant perspective. Acoustically, the stadium's vast concrete structure inherently creates a highly reverberant environment, typical of large, open-air or recently enclosed stadia. Consequently, sound reinforcement for concerts and non-sporting events relies entirely on powerful, distributed PA systems to achieve any degree of clarity, rather than natural acoustic properties, though crowd noise is amplified dramatically by the enclosed design.

Entering the stadium typically involves navigating distinct gates around the perimeter, with security checks and bag screening a standard procedure. Concourse areas, while functional for high-volume traffic, are primarily designed for efficiency with numerous kiosks offering refreshments rather than intimate foyer bars. For major concerts, the pitch transforms into a vast standing area, offering direct proximity to the stage but at the expense of elevated perspective. Meanwhile, the multi-tiered seating offers a comprehensive overview, though distance to the stage can be significant in the upper echelons.
